Stilt Mental Health Initiative
We are a non-profit founded in 2019 with a vision to see the improved mental well-being of young Nigerians aged 13-30 through mental health education, peer support and advocacy.
What We Do
Mental Health Education
We are committed to providing comprehensive mental health education through various channels such as Children’s Mental Health Week outreaches, webinars, social media and educational programs. Our aim is to raise awareness, destigmatize mental health issues, and equip individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage their mental well-being effectively.
Peer Support
We use a peer-to-peer support model. This model promotes coping strategies, managing mental health symptoms & developing a network of support from people who have been through similar experiences to challenge stigma & spread hope. We foster a supportive community by facilitating monthly support group meetings.
Advocacy
We advocate for crucial changes in mental health policies and societal perceptions. Our efforts include pushing for the passage of the Mental Health Act to ensure equitable access to mental health care. Presently, we are actively campaigning to decriminalize attempted suicide in Nigeria, aiming to transform punitive measures into compassionate support for those experiencing mental health crises.
Connection Makes The Difference
Use this service if you or a loved one needs therapy or support from a mental health specialist, facility or NGO.
